MARINE FOUNDATIONS

Prince Rupert Coal Loadout Terminal, British Columbia,
Canada
The cost, quality, efficiency of all foundations are sensitive to the construction process and methods used to install the foundation. However, this statement is even truer for marine foundations where the potential for problems is high, and the options for remedial action are limited and expensive. For this reason it is essential from the outset of the project to have a clear understanding of the various foundation construction options available, the potential challenges with each of the various types of marine foundation systems, and the options for corrective action if needed. The BSCE construction, geotechnical, and structural engineers have the experience to develop this understanding and reach solutions that minimize construction cost, schedule and risk while ensuring long term durability.

BSCE's marine foundation services include detailed foundation design and analysis including soil-structure interaction analysis and seismic analysis for bridge foundations, immersed tube tunnels, pipelines, large gravity base structures, marine terminals, surge barriers, breakwaters, locks and dams. BSCE's services also include performing specific marine foundation studies:
  • Foundation Alternative Studies
  • Constructability Reviews
  • Value Engineering Studies
